
The University congratulates former Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Chubb AC on his election as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science.
Professor Chubb served as ANU Vice-Chancellor from 2001 to 2011 and Australia's Chief Scientist from 2011 until 2015.
Fellows are elected to the Academy for their outstanding contributions to science and research.
The Academy noted Professor Chubb's strong and effective advocacy for government and industry support of innovation and research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt said Professor Chubb's election to the Academy was a worthy acknowledgement of his leadership and service to science.
"Professor Chubb has made an enormous contribution to the sciences, particularly through his ongoing advocacy and determination to raise the profile of science in Australia," Professor Schmidt said.
"Professor Chubb has also made significant contributions to higher education, and we are delighted to see his tremendous service acknowledged in this way."
