These courses will allow students all around the world to access our unique business program at ANU, which can a then be used as credit for a wider Master degree.

The Australian National University (ANU) will be among the first institutions in the world to offer a new EdX MicroMasters program that will give credit towards an ANU Master degree.

The ANU MicroMasters in Evidence-Based Management is designed for students looking to advance their careers or follow a path to an on-campus program.

As part of the MicroMasters, ANU is offering courses in evidence-based practice in management, business communications, stakeholder marketing, management foundations, global management, technology management and project management.

The ANU was the first Australian institution invited to become a member of EdX in February 2013.

Project leader Professor Byron Keating said the ANU will offer seven online courses from the ANU Research School of Management in 2017.

"These courses will allow students all around the world to access our unique business program at ANU, which can a then be used as credit for a wider Master degree," Professor Keating said.

"The ANU MicroMasters is at the forefront of business education with a focus on evidence-based business management, giving students the tools to become the next generation of leaders in business and industry."

MicroMasters supports an inverted admissions process, allowing learners everywhere to try Master-level course work from ANU before committing significant time and money toward applying for and enrolling in a Master's degree.

People who complete the on-line MicroMasters can gain credit to a full Master degree at ANU, and have the chance to enrol for on-campus courses.

"We are honoured to work with the ANU to launch MicroMasters, marking a new and exciting step toward furthering our shared mission to expand access to high-quality education," said Anant Agarwal, CEO at edX and professor at MIT.

"MicroMasters provides the next level of innovation in learning and meets the needs of learners, universities and employers in today's on-demand, tech-driven world."

Students who complete the ANU MicroMasters in Evidence-Based Management will receive 24 units of advance standing for the following on ANU qualifications:

  • Master of Management
  • Master of International Management
