The Australian National University (ANU) has welcomed new consultations on the route for Stage 2 of the Canberra light rail network.
The options for Stage 2 include trams travelling around the Western side of London Circuit and then down to Woden in a transport corridor which will stretch from Gungahlin, through the city and south to Woden.
"The proposed option for Stage 2 will improve access to the Light Rail project for the ANU community and the New Acton precinct, which form a vibrant part of the city's life," said ANU Executive Director Administration and Planning Chris Grange.
"The equivalent of a full football stadium of people visit the ANU each day, with campus visitors joining around 22,000 students and 4,000 staff.
"Around 5,000 students also live on the ANU campus.
"The proximity of Stage 2 of the light rail project will make it easier for students, staff and visitors to travel to and from the ANU campus."
