Which ANU team will have the most innovative idea to combat some of the world's most intractable problems?
Come along to hear our four teams of finalists pitch their ideas to reduce carbon emissions, enable machine intelligence, and put forward solutions around social cohesion as part of the ANU Grand Challenges Scheme 2018.
The Grand Challenges finalists' public pitches will be held on Wednesday 19 September 2018, from 5pm at the Auditorium of the Australian Centre on China in the World.
The 2018 Grand Challenges crown will be chosen by the Scheme's Selection Committee, which comprises ANU staff and external stakeholders, including experts from public policy and alumni.
The four proposals that have been shortlisted by the Committee to proceed to the final, are:
- Humanising Machine Intelligence
- Restoring Climate with Enhanced Earth Systems
- Social Cohesion, inclusion and diversity
- Zero-Carbon Energy for the Asia-Pacific
The Selection Committee will adjudicate each group's public pitch and their written proposals. Those who attend will have an opportunity to ask questions in a special Q&A session. The winner will be declared by the Vice-Chancellor on recommendation from the Committee.
Register here to attend the public pitch night. The 2018 Grand Challenges winning team will be announced on 20 September.
