The ANU School of Music Brass Ensemble is a World-Class ensemble performing
a wide range of repertoire from all periods and styles of music. It is
a dynamic ensemble formed of tertiary students studying at the School
of Music and directed by Dominic Harvey and Thomas Burge.
The Brass Class series are performance days in which the ANU Brass Ensemble
performs an exciting and informative school concert, suitable for all
experience and age levels. The students of your school will experience
an interactive session incorporating a performance, demonstrations from
the experienced students at the School of Music under the direction and
supervision of Dominic Harvey (Lecturer in Horn) and Thomas Burge (Lecturer
in Trombone).
Concert
The ANU Brass Ensemble performs for your Music Department and the rest
of your school. The aims of the concert are to highlight the brass ensemble
and each of the separate instruments and sections within it. Students
will not only hear the experienced ensemble perform, but will also meet
the musicians, hear each of the brass instruments in solo and chamber
settings, have the opportunity to ask questions to members of the ensemble,
and even play some of the instruments themselves.
It is a great opportunity for already keen brass musicians in schools
of all ages to experience a world class ensemble perform and teach, and
also for students who are interested in playing brass instruments to see
what they can do, and find the instrument that is best suited to them.
There is something in these concerts for everyone.
Fees
The ANU Brass Area currently charges $300 per school (GST inclusive) for
a Friday morning concert.
