Scholarships

 

The Australian National University awards Scholarships in a range of areas each year.
All eligible current students and students offered admission are automatically considered for award of these scholarships
No application is required.

Scholarships specific to the School of Music, which will be offered in 2008, are listed below:


UNDERGRADUATE

ANU National Orchestral Scholarship
Scholarship for students enrolled in the ANU School of Music, who are selected to join the Canberra Symphony Orchestra for a specified number of performances during one calendar year.

Leonard and Margaret Doman Undergraduate Scholarship for Flute
This one year Scholarship is awarded to a student with an outstanding level of ability and accomplishment as a flautist, possessing the potential to make an outstanding contribution as a musician.

Ruth Pfanner Undergraduate Scholarships
One four year Scholarship, $5000 per year, awarded to the most outstanding applicant commencing the Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance with Honours.

Ruth Pfanner Commencement Scholarships
Several one-year Scholarships of $2500, for students commencing the Bachelor of Music in any instrument.

Dennis Griffin National Piano Scholarship - Undergraduate
Several one-year Undergraduate Scholarships valued at $2500, offered to students commencing study in Piano or Composition.

School of Music Foundation Scholarship
One-year Scholarships valued at $2500, available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Music, supported by the School of Music Foundation .

ANU National Undergraduate Scholarship
One Scholarship awarded to a student from the School of Music, $10000 per year for the duration of the enrolled program. There is an application process for the award of this Scholarship. Please follow the link for more Information.


HONOURS

Peter and Lena Karmel Honours Scholarship
One-year Scholarship valued at $5000, awarded to the most outstanding student in music commencing an Honours year at the ANU School of Music.

Sir Geoffrey Yeend Honours Scholarships
One or two Scholarships for Honours Year students enrolled in Political Science, Visual and Performing arts or Asian studies.

 

POSTGRADUATE

Leonard and Margaret Doman Postgraduate Scholarship for Flute
One year Scholarship awarded to a student pursuing a full time program of study, leading to the award of a postgraduate coursework degree or diploma in Flute Performance at the ANU School of Music.

Dennis Griffin National Piano Scholarship - Postgraduate
Several postgraduate Scholarships valued at $5000 awarded to students of Piano or Composition.

Kornfeld Graduate Tuition Scholarship for Singers
Scholarship covering tuition fees, available to students enrolled in a program of graduate study in Voice performance.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE IN FUTURE YEARS

Harmony Trust Scholarship
A four-year Scholarship open to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Music in any instrument.

Nigel and Ann Flowers Honours Scholarship for Flute
Awarded to an applicant commencing full-time Honours year at the School of Music . This one year Scholarship is awarded to a student with an outstanding level of ability and accomplishment as a flautist, possessing the potential to make an outstanding contribution as a musician.

Professor H. Burton Scholarship in Music
Scholarship provides a furnished two bedroom flat to a PhD student for a maximum of three years and a stipend. Total value $15000.
