BANKS PUSH DIGI-CERTS
Eight large banks joined forces today to help boost business transactions
over the Internet. They have agreed to would create a single, global
certificate authority that will issue digital certificates guaranteeing the
identity of companies involved in Net commerce. The banks are Bank of
America, Bankers Trust, Barclays Bank, Chase Manhattan, Citibank,
Deutsche Bank, Hypo Vereinsbank of Germany and ABN Amro of
Holland.
