I do hope they do not get themselves into too much of a muddle.

It seems to me that there are three distinct areas of IT in which
the Federal government plays a part:

1) IT that government departments use

2) The IT infrastructure that everyone uses
- eg telecommunications, PKI etc.

3) The IT industry

Each of these are different although they may be interconnected.

If they make an IT superdepartment it will be interesting to see
what they put in it.

Of course it might just be a push for power by a certain ex NSW
premier, now into his second term in Federal politics.
