This is a bit late, sorry (I've been away). But my memory is that
'disintermediation' became mainstream in the late 1980s.

If you liked 'disintermediation', you'll like 're-intermediation' even
more; and you'll just *lo-o-ove* the current word, which sums it all up in
a dozen or so syllables: 'dis-inter-remediation' ...
