CLASSROOM BULLIES MOVE INTO CYBERSPACE

Cyberspace is replacing the common room and the school
social as the power base in girls' schools, with students
using e-mail and on line "chat rooms" to bully and harass
other students.

They surveyed 180 Year 7 to 10 students at a Melbourne
girls' school and found that while name-calling and
spreading rumours are still the most common forms of
harassment, more girls are turning to technology to
intimidate their classmates.
