Jan -- Great news -- Just think there are billion dollar
telecommunications concerns in the world that can provide a simple basic
service for free.

Also, in the states there are massive computer equipment donations and
software donations to the public schools. I tried to progress that idea
in the ACT but was told that "all" the gov machines are out sourced and
can't be recycled for the good of the community education, sports,
charitable organizations, etc. My calculations were that they could
save or better utilize ever shortening grant dollars by providing
grantees ex-gov computer equipment (all ready paid on lease several
times over) and software, enhancing the organization and widening their
electronic communications capabilities with the public. They would
rather strip them and then to the landfill or to an auction for parts.

Oh well--you do not pay for local calls in the US either. Just maybe,
the the light will turn on and ....... probably not.

Cheers -- Terry
