Here's another one, Stewart, that I think is still in operation. Along
the Arizona-Mexico border, there is a tethered blimp with radar (?) to
observe the coyotes [human type that pirate people] moving illegals across
the border. Because the length of a fence needed is judged to be too
expensive, this was an option tried. I remember bits and pieces from tv
news because one of the Arizona Senators was a arguing for or against,
can't recall which. But it was also judged expensive, even by US
standards.

I wonder what the bushies would think about tethered blimps all over the
landscape? I hear they aren't too keen on the windfarms in NSW; spoils
the view doncha know. But maybe if it gave them $.25 statewide calls they
would put up with it?
