Funny that should surface about now.

Although I've very much been out of circulation the last 10 days (sigh, I
think you all know the story aand I'm sure you've all seen it on TV) I had
confirmation of details provided to me in Singapore in August at the IFWP.

NSI has had their contract extended by 7 days whilst the ICANN tried
desparately to get itself together.

I figure when you have a commercial company and an academic organisaiton
who have fought a year long battle to gain power trying to negotiate a
balance, it's not likely to happen quickly.

I think more serious Internet Players will (and are) loking for alternatives.

There is no shortage of "new better than DNS" applications heading to the
consumer platform and lets not ignore new protocols.
