Linkers,
For those interested in some of the issues re microprocessors based on
the Intel IA-64 architecture see
<http://www.eet.com/column1/wintel24.html>

If anyone thinks that the IT industry is settling down after the shocks
of the Personal Computer, Distributed Computing and the Internet, then
I'm afraid they are in for a big surprise.

The impact of the 64 bit microprocessor on all levels of system and
application software will be significant over the next ten years. After
that we still have the potential for another significant impact as
multiprocessor machines start becoming the standard on the desktop.

The only constant is change, and that's getting faster.

Be thankful for problems. If they were less difficult,
someone with less ability might have your job.
