Australia's Education Industry

Hello All,

Over the past few months, especially, it would appear that many well
respected over-seas educational institutes are gearing themselves up
to offer on-line courses. Of course, the distance education movement
will soon extend to all levels, and types, of educational offerings.

I really believe the clever-country should be moving quickly in this
direction also. However, I would need to be convinced that Australia
has made any great strides in this area in relation to the internet.

We certainly have much experience, as needs be, in providing courses
at a distance via technology especially. However reports of internet
based commercial educational initiatives are few and far between, as
far as our local providers are concerned in my experience.

For any country with a good reputation in terms of quality education,
the provision of on-line courses will be a lucrative industry shortly.
Does anyone have information, opinions, or better still, bright ideas
regarding encouraging the development of this industry in our country?
