Mailing list software should include a "Precedence: bulk" header for
messages sent to the list itself, which, in theory, should help
"holiday" scripts/bots decide whether to reply to messages or not.
I'm not sure what packages of this nature are available for users as I don't
tend to take holidays, although, when I do, I don't really give a toss if
people know whether I'm on holidays or not.
