G'day,
Linking to other websites has already caused some interesting litigation to
take place around the Web.
My personal view is that links are OK, provided that they are obviously
links, and not made to look like another part of your site; and provided
that, if the link you create is going to generate a lot of hits (suppose
you give it to 2000 students in the Faculty of Health or somewhere), you
advise the linked-to website, so that they can handle the traffic. And also
provided that the provision of the link does not contravene the law of the
land in some way, as did the JET case in the UK, when the provision of a
link to a site which was a copyright infringement could be seen to be
authorising the reproduction of infringing copies of a copyright document.

to date reports on all the cases and disputes about links. It's at:
