WELCOME
-------
The Foundation for Information Technology within the University of
Sydney is proud to welcome you to the Information Security Day. As we
are approach the Year 2000, the significance of the new millennium and
the hosting of the Olympic Games will bring an increasing focus not
only on Sydney and NSW, but also on the security capabilities of
companies located here. It is therefore important that we are all
aware of potential threats to the secure control of our data and are
able to deal with overseas opportunities on an equal basis.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
-----------------
Whether you are part of a Government Department, large corporation,
business owner, student or an interested individual, there are many
useful ideas and tips for you in the array of information available at
the Information Security Day.

yourself the benefits of such technology at MacLaurin Hall and the
Great Hall. The companies and organizations listed will display the
latest technology made for the secure control of data processed by you
or your organization.

INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS
--------------------
Sponsored by McAfee
A playpen, at the centre of the exhibition hall, will test the skills
of hackers as they try to break into a security defended system. See
the hacker's footprints on the LAN or watch the damage an unchecked
computer can do to your data. Perhaps you will try your hand at
hacking into a system and if successful win a prize for your efforts.

at the National Security Advisory Authority (NSAA), a branch of the
Defence Signals Directorate. NSAA advises all Commonwealth Government
agencies on information security matters.

Programme, which organizes evaluation and certification of trusted
information security products and systems to international standards.
John's main preoccupations now are:
- the security of electronic commerce; he has been advising Telstra on
the Commonwealth Electronic Commerce Service and is on various Public
Key Infrastructure committees
