Points similar to yours were made to the Senate Committee in several
submissions. Unfortunately the Committee lacks the expertise to take account
of them. The whole bill, like the Council of Europe Convention, is naive and
badly worded, and remains so.
Greg Taylor( of the EFA ) rightly draws attention to the fact that Australia
is inexplicably rushing to implement these half-baked laws, while other
nations are still deliberating on them. I think it's some sort of cultural
cringe.
