Again, the "linking" factor here is encouragement at home. It's
really hard in an educational environment to replicate the sort of
parental support and nourishment that comes from the family bond. School
and especially university classes in ICT often focus on the value of
group work and the building of personal networks (more often than not
leading to plagarism however!) but ultimately outside the home a young
person is still an individual striving to establish an identity and
therefore prone to the usual peer group pressure to conform. Not a
recipe for the sort of creative development you can get in a good home.
