A very useful technology that schools might look at is the $300 Lego
Mindstorm robotics system, which arose from research at MIT. Kids age 8 and
above would probably be OK with this. It consists of block-based robots that
can be programmed to find or avoid objects, chase or avoid lights, and quite
a lot of other stuff. In click-together plastic. Very cool.
This type of product / toy has just crossed the consumer threshold. Within
three years these will be killer products, in my opinion. A great
introduction to creative technology for children.
