[LINK] ACS Foundation Launched by Senator Alston

Greetings from Sydney, where Senator Alston just gave his speech for the
launch of the ACS Foundation.

The Foundation has been set up by the ACS to provide scholarships to both
undergraduate and post-graduate students. Funding is for educational and
research grants (pure and applied). The Foundation aims to initially
provide at least $3 million per year and more than 100 educational
scholarships, funded through tax deductible industry and government
donations. At launch Compuware and Online Advantage have provided funding.

ps: In his speech Senator Alston mentioned the ICT Centre of Excellence
project would have "distributed nodes" in different states. This is a
change of policy and a welcome development. Previously the emphasis was on
one winner-take-all location, which didn't make good sense for a
