Regardless of any legal liability, Ford knows that if it gets a reputation
for producing unreliable vehicles its customers will simply buy the GM
equivalent which is, to all intents and purposes, identical. Thus, Ford has
a commercial interest in making good any manufacturing faults.
This works in exactly the same way as the PC market doesn't.
