I'm not Robert and I haven't read the license, but I suspect that if you
were to view the code and go on to do Open Source development in a related
area then MS would have some grounds to accuse you of copying trade secrets
or using their source code directly.

These accusations wouldn't have to be true for the threat to be effective.
