Contemporary Europe
The CELC aims to unite students from all disciplines who are interested in European current affairs, European culture and the recent history of Europe. Being a member of CELC provides students with the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences of Europe with other students. CELC is also building a network of contacts with academics and members of the European diplomatic community in Canberra.
In semester 1 2008 the CELC celebrated EuroVision with a party at Bruce Hall. We also organised a lunchtime seminar, "The European Union as a beacon of democracy". Guest enjoyed presentations by Dr Karis Muller, a visiting academic at the National Europe Centre, Mr Chris Hobson, a PhD candidate at the International Relations Department in the Research School Pacific and Asian Studies and Ms Katina Novkova, attaché at the Embassy of Bulgaria.
