The purpose of the African learning community is to provide a forum for people interested in learning more about current affairs on the African continent; to make links with academic staff at the ANU whose interests lie in this direction; to raise funds for Upendo School in Kenya, a small orphanage recently founded by an Australian research academic and local collaborators. Activities this year include a public forum by Dr Isabelle Ferru on the impact of AIDS in Africa (July 29); fundraising activity for Upendo School in Kenya.
