Overview of I2S Network Activities

There are a number of activities which may be of interest to network members:

  1. we regularly produce Integration Insights, a series of digests of concepts, techniques or real-world examples of integration as used in research;
  2. there is a (roughly monthly) newsletter aimed at Australian National University staff and students with an interest in research integration (or inter- or transdisciplinarity) which aims to share updates on events, visitors, activities, opportunities and resources. In addition to current information, each issue will also highlight a relevant journal and professional society;
  3. we periodically run short courses for research leaders seeking an introduction to research integration;
  4. there is also a first-cut at a thesaurus, further development of which is essential for indexing our activities;
  5. unified systems concepts and toolboxes underpin Integration and Implementation Sciences and the website is pleased to host a set of significant resources for developing these; and,
  6. we have completed a project exploring and synthesising diverse disciplinary and practice perspectives on uncertainty. This has led to an Earthscan published book: Bammer, G. & Smithson, M. (Eds.) (2008) Uncertainty and Risk: Multidisciplinary perspectives. Earthscan, London, UK.

From time to time the website also hosts activities restricted to a specified group. These are identified by the notation passwd req'd after the activity name. A current activity is the Decision Support Project, which is a reading and discussion group examining research support for government policy decision making.
