Marking the centenary of the
birth of one of Australia’s most significant poets, this
conference will examine the life, work and influence of A.D. Hope
with three days of papers and readings from major Australian and
international scholars and poets, one day devoted to discussions
of Hope’s work, another to Hope’s place in Australian
and international poetry, and a third to biographical concerns.
Keynote speaker: Kevin
Hart (Notre Dame, U.S.A.); Ann McCulloch (Deakin); and Didier
Coste (Sfax [Tunis] and Michel de Montaine [Bordeaux])
The conference will follow almost
immediately a two-day colloquium (13th and 14 July) at the University
of Sydney on the work of Christopher Brennan and Stéphane
Mallarmé.
