What We Do

The SCU was established because very few users of statistical methods have the knowledge and experience required for effective statistical analysis. Statistics is a dynamic and rapidly developing discipline. All the SCU staff have a sound knowledge of theoretical statistics and extensive experience in the application of statistical methods across a broad range of disciplines. The staff keep abreast of new developments in statistical practice and develop new methods for unusual problems when necessary.

The SCU is unique amongst Australian universities in that a number of very high calibre statisticians are available for consulting free of charge by the ANU research students and staff. It is a feature which serves to enhance the quality of the research at ANU.
