CBE Changing Futures Appeal

An education at CBE gives students the chance to learn from some of the finest academic minds in the world.  We believe that all able students, regardless of their background, should have access to the opportunities that are available here: to gain the knowledge, skills and experience to recognise and reach their full potential, and to go out and make a difference in the world.

We hold the keys to a global education that equips students for the real world. Through academic rigour and a strong research focus, CBE students are prepared for an age of accelerating change. That's why we are the top university in Australia for employability.

We want to enhance the vibrant and diverse community that makes CBE a desirable destination. To do this, we need to attract students from all backgrounds and circumstances. We do not want financial disadvantage to be a barrier for the very best applicants to attend ANU and achieve their goals.

As Australia's National University, we are best placed to enable disadvantaged students who need financial support to enter higher education. We need your help to fund scholarships that change the futures of talented and ambitious individuals.

If you and nine others made a donation of just $100 you could help a student with living costs, study materials, food and transport for a semester. It would allow them to focus more fully on their studies and ANU experience, rather than worrying about finding part-time work. If you and nine others made a donation of $500, it would cover the cost of on campus self-catered accommodation for a whole semester. Such contributions may seem modest to us, but they make a huge difference to the lives of excellent students.

When I was looking at attending university, I wanted to be sure I would get the most out of my tertiary studies. This scholarship will allow me to get the experience I need to be able to make the biggest difference necessary.
Thank you for believing in me, even when you didn't know who I was. Thank you for allowing me to get this experience.

The scholarship provides
some financial security and relief, but more importantly,
knowing I've been awarded a scholarship gives me the determination and drive to do my best and make the most of the excellent opportunities made available to me.

I'm so grateful to have been awarded a scholarship. Students like me, from rural areas, often have dreams and aspirations of coming to university, but financial hardships may limit their ability to do that. By donating to a scholarship, no matter how modest it may be, you can change a person's life.

When I found out I had received a scholarship to study at ANU I felt a huge wave of relief. Receiving a scholarship means that I don't have to worry about working 25 hours a week in a casual job in order to live on campus. As a first year student living on campus is important, you meet a lot of people and make new friends.
