ANU School of Music celebrates 50 years

The Canberra community, friends, staff and students have helped celebrate 50 years since the School of Music was formed in the ACT.

The celebrations included the official opening and plaque unveiling of the School's new $1 million remodelled foyer.

The event also featured the finals of the inaugural Whitworth Roach Classical Music Performance competition, generously supported by its benefcator, Ms Christine Roach. The results were:

  • 1st prize: Andrew Blanch (guitar)
  • 2nd prize: Kyle Daniel (double bass)
  • 3rd prize: Aaron Chew (piano)
  • People's Choice: Aaron Chew (piano)

Exhibitions showing the history of the School, the building and some of its memorable moments have also been on display for the 50th birthday.
