Mother country

Soft skin
and gentle curves
roll like hills
of an old tired
country.
Baked brown by sun
almost fuzzy edged
where the warmth
of her smile
softens harsh lines.

Still bright and clear
her eye, as the summer sky
and the depth of that wisdom
reaches to heaven.

Old as earth,
mother.
