About the Sculpture Walk

Welcome to the Australian National University Sculpture Walk.

Most appropriately for Australia's garden city, the ANU campus is set on a lakeside site backdropped by the wild beauty of Black Mountain, and yet is an easy walking distance from the City's centre.

Since its found in 1946, the University's architecture, landscape design and sculpture were planned so as to create an integrated environment.

Works of art in a place of learning also enhance the academic environment, because their presence demonstrates a culture that values creative thinking.

Some of the sculptures are nearly fifty years old, but the collection is a living, growing one with new works being commissioned continuously.

We hope this website, which is oganised to show sculpture by co-location, encourages you to explore the scenic ground of the ANU and to discover the art that does so much to give our campus a sense of place.
