Green Office Program

The Green Office Program is currently undergoing some changes and will now be called SEE Sustainability at Work. The program will maintain most of its existing elements with the aim of reaching more people more effectively.
This website is currently being updated however much of the information is still relevant and applicabale. Clare Lawlor is no longer running this program so please contact Millie.Rooney@anu.edu.au for further information and an updated workshop timetable.

How it Works

A Green Champion in each area receives training from ANUgreen, and implements environmental programs with the support of their colleagues and area head.

10-Point Plan: 10 simple steps for the ideal green office

1.

Use scrap paper for drafts and notes

2.

Conserve water by reporting leaks and taking shorter showers

3.

Recycle paper waste, cardboard, rigid plastic, cans and glass containers

4.

Recycle toner cartridges and use remanufactured or refilled cartridges

5.

Switch off computer monitors when absent for more than 15 minutes and switch off lights when absent for over 45 minutes

6.

Double side and reduce (where practical) when photocopying & printing

7. Use environmentally responsible paper (where practical)
8.

Uses sustainable modes of transport
(Any combination of walking, carpooling, cycling, catching the bus...).

9.

Promote and practice the philosophy that "the drain is just for rain"

10.

Use non-disposable mugs and crockery for occupants and guests, avoiding the need for disposables
