John Heer, a recently retired CEO from the United States healthcare sector, is an advocate of the Servant Leader philosophy. His success in applying it in the organisations he led resulted in many awards including appearing in Fortune Magazine’s ‘Best 100 companies to work for’ three times, an unprecedented three Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Awards, and the 2016 Harry S Hertz Leadership award.
John argues that if you get the culture and employee engagement right, all else will follow. The success of his approach is illustrated by the results achieved in his last organisation which achieved 99% employee engagement, 90% physician satisfaction and 99% customer satisfaction – a remarkable achievement in a hospital setting.
