Peruvian Congressman Alberto de Belaunde is one of the few political figures defending LGBTI Civil and Gender Identity Rights in Peru. His talk will focus on the question of human rights, including LGBTI challenges, in Latin America. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
About Congressman de Belaunde
Mr de Belaunde is one of the youngest congressmen in Peru's parliament. He comes from a family of respected politicians and lawyers. He is a promising character in Peruvian politics who was invited to join President Kuczynski's party during the latter's presidential race. Himself openly gay, he is one of the few political figures defending LGBTI civil and gender identity rights in Peru. With Lima being his constituency, his political interests as a Congressman also include improving transport infrastructure and public security. Mr de Belaunde holds a B.A. in Law (Peru), Fellow at the Global Competitive Leadership Program (Georgetown University, US); Master's degree in Territorial Planning and Environmental Management (University of Barcelona, Spain)
