One Belt One Road and the Sino-Australian Relationship

In this talk, Mr Li Zhaoxing will discuss China's One Belt One Road Initiative (OBOR) and the Sino-Australian relationship. OBOR refers to the ‘Silk Road Economic Belt and Twenty-First Century Maritime Silk Road’, which aims to enhance China’s connection and co-operation with other parts of Asia, Europe, and Africa through increased regional trade as well as cultural exchange.

About the Speaker

Mr Li Zhaoxing is the President of the China Public Diplomacy Association, dedicated to people-to-people exchange between China and abroad. From 2003 to 2007, he was China’s Foreign Minister, and he has also served as the Permanent Representative and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the PRC to the United Nations, and Ambassador of China to the United States. Mr Li was appointed Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress in 2008. He is the author of many books about his diplomatic experience, including the Poetic Life when Abroad, When I am Abroad, and Long Story about Diplomacy.
