Histories and Futures of Student Activism Launch

Student activism has long been a defining feature of university life. Students are often the first to question and challenge social norms and injustices, and in Canberra students have led various different movements for social justice from the 1960s until now.

Join us on Wednesday, February 14th as we launch the inaugural print edition of Demos Journal and an accompanying installation by artists Esther Carlin and Amelia Filmer-Sankey.

The Student Activism journal issue and installation explore the histories and futures of student activism in Canberra, showcasing the work of artists, and capturing stories of campaigns, past and current.

With contributions from activists young and old, the journal and installation explore questions of place, belonging, ideology, tactics, specific episodes and characters. There will be plenty of free copies available!

The running order for the night will be:

6pm Acknowledgement of Country, drinks and nibbles
6:30pm Launch of Installation
6:45pm Launch of Print Publication
7pm Music from student and activist Lara Sweeney
