Beethoven's Piano Concerto - Australian Haydn Ensemble

ANU School of Music 2014 Ensemble In Residence - Australian Haydn Ensemble present the third concert in their series of four at the Australian National University.

Neal Peres Da Costa, recognised internationally as one of the best keyboardist specialists in historical performance, performs Beethoven's Piano Concerto no. 2

Following a hugely popular performance with the ensemble in 2013 of the first piano concerto, and lead by international concert master and soloist, Canadian violinist, Marc Destrubé, they will perform a newly commissioned chamber version of Beethoven's 2nd piano concerto from Australian composer, Steven Yates.

The arrangement holds fast to Beethoven's own writing and also reflects the fashion of chamber arrangements of symphonic works in the classical era in a contemporary setting.

This particular arrangement corresponds to the instrumentation of Cimadors arrangement of Mozart's 'Grand Symphonies', for flute, string quintet, double bass and obligato keyboard from which the group will also perform the famous Symphony no. 39
