The ANU Grand Challenges Scheme invests in transformative research that will impact on the world's most intractable problems.
Solutions to the world's most intractable problems are likely to come from collaboration across diverse disciplines and stakeholders. The Grand Challenges Scheme aims to focus the creativity and talents of researchers from a range of disciplines around one ambitious goal. The ANU Grand Challenges Scheme will reward vision, imagination, and reasoned logic which shows how distinctive ANU research will impact on global issues.
During the 2018 Grand Challenges Pitch night, the finalists will present their Grand Challenges proposals. The presentations provide an excellent opportunity to experience ANU research, involve and enthuse students and staff, and stimulate thinking for the next round of Grand Challenges. Those who attend will have opportunity to ask questions to the finalsists teams in the Q&A session.
The four finalists teams for the 2018 Grand Chellenges Scheme are:
- Humanising Machine Intelligence
- Restoring Climate with Enhanced Earth Systems
- Social Cohesion, Inclusion and Diversity
- Zero-Carbon Energy for the Asia-Pacific
The Grand Challenges finalists' public pitches will be held on Wednesday 19 September 2018, 5.00-7.00pm at the Auditorium of the Australian Centre on China in the World.
