An Australia-US Alliance for the 21st Century

For decades Australia's alliance with the United States has been the cornerstone of the nation's defence and security. The alliance has made a significant contribution to international peace and prosperity and continues to enjoy healthy support in Australia and the United States. Yet the alliance faces growing external and internal challenges, including the threat posed by North Korea's nuclear and missile programs, the resurgence of terrorist networks in Southeast Asia, and China's increasing assertiveness in the Western Pacific.

Join visiting senior experts from the Washington, DC-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) -- Michael Green, Senior Vice President for Asia and Japan Chair; Amy Searight, Senior Adviser and Director, Southeast Asia Program; and Andrew Shearer, Senior Adviser on Asia Pacific Security and Director, Alliances and American Leadership Project -- to discuss these challenges and how to ensure the alliance is equipped to meet them.
