The 2007 Equity update report to the Department of Education,
Science and Training, outlines the key student equity groups.
These are:
- Students with disabilities
- Students from non-English speaking backgrounds
- Students with low socio-economic status
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- Students from rural and isolated areas
- Women students in non-traditional courses

3. Student Equity groups – priorities
In 2007-8 the priority equity groups at ANU for access and participation
are:
- Students with low socio-economic status
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- Students from rural and isolated areas
ANU expects the successful outcomes from the following student
equity groups to continue, with continuing improvements in access
and participation for:
- Students with disabilities
- Students from non-English speaking backgrounds
- Women students in non-traditional courses
4. Student Equity Grants Scheme
ANU established the University Community Student Equity Scheme in 2007. It is a scheme to encourage ANU staff to pilot new and innovative projects in the key student equity priority areas. For details of the scheme for 2008, click

6. Student training programs
Residential programs
A number of programs are provided by the Residential Colleges
that include equity and diversity training:
Counselling
Services programs
Different student programs, including seminars, group programs
and workshops are offered to students and staff throughout the
year.
