$2 million for new scholarshipsNew scholarships for undergraduate students worth a total of $2 million under a partnership ActewAGL, ACTEW and ANU... 16 March 2009 Undergraduate students will be able to apply for new scholarships worth a total of $2 million under a partnership ActewAGL, ACTEW and ANU. Scholarships sponsored by the ACT utilities will be offered from the first semester 2009 across a range of disciplines including engineering, IT, finance and economics. In semester one 2010, the scholarship program will be extended to postgraduate study and research. The partnership was signed by Professor Chubb, ActewAGL Chief Executive Officer Michael Costello and ACTEW Corporation Managing Director Mark Sullivan at University House on Thursday 12 February. Professor Chubb said the partnership was a welcome example of ANU and industry working together. "ANU is delighted to join forces with ACTEW and ActewAGL through this partnership to provide scholarships to students. It is a further example of the University and ACTEW and ActewAGL working together for the benefit of everyone," he said. "Australia faces many challenges in the years ahead, including an ageing workforce that will put pressure on companies wishing to attract the brightest students. Businesses that wish to remain competitive by finding top quality staff recognise the value of investing in the education of those staff and fostering an environment of life-long learning. "The scholarships this partnership provides will be highly-sought after by students. That's good news for our students, but it also means that ACTEW and ActewAGL are securing a pool of talented graduates.
