The 2008 Short Story Competition has closed with 183 imaginative entries.
The finalists have been informed and their stories will be published
on this website on 17 October 2008.
Details for the 2009 Uni Pub Short Story Competition will be posted soon.
In conjunction with ANU, the Uni Pub Inc. is proud to announce once again the short story competition open to all students enrolled at the University.
Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success and the 10 finalists’ stories can be viewed on 2007 Uni Pub ANU Short Story Competition
First prize is $6,000, Second prize is $3,000 and Third prize is $2,000.
The story may be up to 5,000 words and on any topic. The judges will select ten finalists and those students will be invited to attend the presentation at the Uni Pub in the first week of October 2008.
The stories must be typed with double spacing and the word count must be included on the cover sheet, which can be downloaded
here.

Closing date for email submissions is Friday 1 August 2008.
Terms and conditions
1. The Uni Pub Inc, in conjunction with The Australian National University, is presenting a short story competition open to all current ANU students.
2. Stories submitted to the Competition may be up to 5,000 words in length, and on any topic.
3. Closing date: 1 August 2008 (stories may be submitted at any time before that date).
First prize: $6,000 Second prize: $3,000 Third prize: $2,000
4. On the date of submission of the manuscript, the author must be enrolled and undertaking a course of study in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at the ANU.
5. The Award Panel will select ten finalists and those students will be invited to the presentation at the Uni Pub in the last week of September 2008 where the winners will be announced.
6. The Intellectual Property will remain with the student. The Uni Pub Inc will endeavour to have the winning entries published in the local media.
7. Submission by email only to: prizes@anu.edu.au by 5.00pm Friday 1 August 2008.

8. Submissions with an incomplete Cover Sheet will not be accepted.
9. The Award Panel will include Professor Allan Hawke (Chancellor of ANU), Professor Penny Oakes (Dean of Students), Vic Elliot (ANU Librarian) and representatives from Uni Pub.
10. Late applications will not be accepted. The decision of the Award Panel will be final, no correspondence about the final decision will be considered. |
