Thomas Lau, Misty morning in May

Currently an Honours student in my fourth year, working on a Bachelor of Music and majoring in theory and orchestration. I am an Australian citizen but am originally from Hong Kong. I came to Australia and settled in Adelaide in 2001 with my family, and our home is currently in Brisbane.

For four years I lived at Ursula College, which is just opposite Sullies. From my second year onwards, I have thoroughly loved the view from the one room I have lived in for the last three years, which is on the highest level and faces the creek. To give an idea of my affinity for the location, apart from a few trees blocking the view, the photo could almost be taken from my window, assuming I had a very powerful lens! It was taken on a quiet Saturday in May 2005, at about 8am, while I was enjoy the air and the company of four swans.

To me, the mist that commonly forms during the mid-year months is extremely relaxing and soothing to senses, and breathing in the moist air is one of the best stress-relief for any upcoming exams! I thoroughly regret not spending enough mornings strolling along the campus (because of studies), so I make up for it by occasionally carrying my camera around to take beautiful photos around campus, to enjoy them back in my room. The set of photos taken on that day are among my favourite, as they capture landscapes, animals and flora I see very often - at least once when I wake up, and again when I pass by that area. The photos remind myself of the beautiful, serene moments during these last four years.
