Obamarama & the audacity of evidence for health reform in the United States

Since President Barrack Obama took office early this year, Congress has proposed bold actions to address the ailing United States health care system. In a system that spends $2.4 trillion each year on health care with some of the worst outcomes in the western world, there is enthusiasm to revitalise primary care. Dr Andrew Bazemore, of the Robert Graham Center in Washington DC, will talk about health reform in the US and the renewed role for evidence-based policy making.

Dr Andrew Bazemore

Dr Andrew Bazemore is the Assistant Director of the Robert Graham Center, a policy research institution focused on primary care. Dr Bazemore has longstanding research interests in policy and access to care for underserved populations both domestically and internationally, and on the application of the geographic information systems to the study of the population health and health care. He also serves on faculty at Georgetown University, George Washington University and Virginia Commonwealth University, where he sees patients and teaches every week.
