Some Key Assistive Technology Products.by Michael BolithoListed below is a selection of products from the extensive range of Assistive Technology Products available. We have reviewed the information about the programs, but have not performed an in-depth evaluation of functionality, value and effectiveness of all products. Products have been selected on the basis of the information provided and accumulated knowledge of the products in general use. This section is designed to give information only, and is designed to assist people to continue their own investigations of products which may meet their specific needs. All the products listed below have been found using the ABLEDATA database of Assistive Technology products (http://www.abledata.com/) or the Microsoft Accessibility Aids Catalogue (http://www.microsoft.com/enable/products/aids.asp). Details of some 18,000 Assistive Technology products are available in the ABLEDATA database, and an unknown number are available through Microsoft. Another site that seems to have a good range of the currently available software for disabled users is www.infogrip.com. For details of any product in the ABLEDATA database, connect to the website, Get Product Info, Search by Keyword, and use the name given in the list. For details of any product in the Microsoft Accessibility Aids Calalogue, connect to the database and use the name given in the list. Some products are only in one source, others are in both. Look in both for maximum coverage or link to the vendor's website. Also look at infogrip if possible. Those products listed below have been selected because they apparently meet the criteria given in the various headings. This is not, nor is it intended to be, a complete list of products meeting these criteria. New or old products that the original authors were not aware of (probably because the vendors did not tell the authors about them) have not been included.
