nsw-disability Mail List

The nsw-disability mail list was developed in 1999 by the Regional Disability Liaison Officer initiative (RDLO) to foster cross-sectoral liaison and networking between disability practitioners across NSW and ACT universities and TAFEs. The nsw-disability mail list is now administered by the Disability Education Association of NSW/ACT (DEAN) Inc.

The Disability Education Association of NSW/ACT (DEAN) Inc. is a professional association of practitioners who provide educational access services for people with a disability in universities and TAFE Institutes in NSW and the ACT.

What is a Mail list?

A Mail list is a specifically designed mailgroup that is accessed via the e-mail system. The Mailgroup is made up of those who subscribe to the list. A Mail list operates as a central basis for the distribution of messages. These messages will only be circulated via e-mail to those who have subscribed to the mail list.

Who is eligible to subscribe to the NSW Disability Mail list?

The NSW Disability Mail list was established for TAFE and University Disability Service Providers. Successful subscription to the Mail list is determined by the Mail list Administrator, on behalf of the DEAN Council. The Administrators role is to ensure that the subscriber is a practitioner who provides educational access services for people with a disability in NSW and ACT universities and TAFE Institutes. The Administrator will subsequently process each request for subscription on to the Mail list.

If a request for subscription is made from a person outside the definition of a practitioner who provides educational access services for people with a disability in NSW and ACT universities and TAFE Institutes, the subscription will be upheld and referred to the DEAN Council for the decision making process.

Membership to the nsw-disability list will enable you to:

  • Receive information about the activities of DEAN
  • Actively participate in discussions, information sharing and problem solving, specific to your role in providing disability services in post-secondary education.
  • Assist in the development of effective and efficient transition processes for people with disabilities between post-secondary education sectors
  • Network with other professionals across post-secondary education
  • Debate issues at a regional and state level specific to educational access.
