Comparative and cross-disciplinary research

The theoretical and practical focus of all the research undertaken through the Centre is:

  • comparative scholarship that transcends national and area-studies frames of reference, providing new insights into the inter-relations between European societies, Asian and Pacific societies, Indigenous cultures and migrant communities
  • to increase knowledge of cross-cultural relations and histories, particularly, but not exclusively, in Australia and the immediate region
  • to facilitate an interdisciplinary cross-fertilisation of methodologies, research practices and theoretical frameworks.
