The Forge Lecture Series
This series is hosted by the Centre for Cross-Cultural Research and the School of Archaeology and Anthropology at the ANU. It aims to assess and extend the research legacy of Anthony Forge, who was foundation Professor of Anthropology in the Faculty of Arts at ANU. THE FORGE LECTURES ARE A SPECIAL INITIATIVE OF ONE AREA OF THE ANU, THEY ARE NOT PART OF THE GENERAL ANU PUBLIC LECTURE SERIES.

The Lecture
Many wooden figures have been produced by the people of Easter Island but recently one appeared at an auction sale that was so eccentric it was dismissed as either a late untraditional piece or a fake. A string of clues, running from St Petersburg to Sydney, Australia and Easter Island itself, however, leads to a very different conclusion.

THE MAIN VENUE FOR THE 2006 FORGE LECTURE IS NOW FULL

No further tickets are available prior to the lecture and no tickets will be available at the door on the evening of 24 November.

ALTERNATIVE VENUE

For those people who were unsuccessful in gaining tickets, or who did not receive as many as they hoped for, a live screening of the lecture will be provided in an adjacent theatre (Lecture Theatre 2). Tickets are not required for this second theatre, but places will only be available until the venue fills on the night of Friday 24 November.

Both lecture theatres are in the Manning Clark Centre on the ANU Campus (building 26a)
